La Baie Sainte Marie!

Yesterday we drove to Pointe de l'Eglise where we went for lunch at chez Jean, shopped at Frenchys, swam at the pool, got a magic show, had a bonfire at the beach and we're thoroughly entertained by a Frenchys fashion show! Everyone had fun being kids in the Univeraity dorm room... Adults included!!!
It was a long fun filled day and everyone had a great time!

This morning our chefs Rod & Sam treated the group to cinnamon buns, muffins and pancakes!!! Mike made English muffins that nobody ate... We think it's due to this being a French trip?!?

Today we stopped at the Annapolis Royal tidal power generating station on our way to Oaklawn farm zoo.

At the zoo the families joined us for lunch and then we visited all sorts of animals including lions, tigers and bears oh my!!!

This evening and tomorrow are our family days... Let's show them how awesome our province is!

Learning local history and the chemistry magic show!

This may have been the most beautiful day of 2015! And we got to spend it outdoors at Grand Pre National Historic Site and at Acadia University.

Our day began with a visit of Grand Pre where students learned about Acadian history.

After lunch we toured the Irving centre and learned about native plants in NS.

We really did finish the day with a BANG!!! We were lucky to have the chance to have a chemistry magic show :) students got to see cool experiments with liquid nitrogen, and elephant toothpaste and exploding hydrogen peroxide! I've been telling them that science is cool for a long time! Now they actually believe me :)

Here we go again!!!

It's now our turn to host our friends from Quebec ;)
We picked them up this morning at the airport hotel and visited the Citadelle.

The highlight of the day was the Halifax Ghost tour with Tattletours! Andy Smith and his partner walked us
around the city and gave us so much history and annecdotes, a really cool way to learn about a new city.

We ended the day with a stop at the mall for lunch and some shopping.

Finally our host families met us at the school for a pot luck...  I am feeling so fortunate to have such amazing families to support this program...

Let's treat them to an amazing NS week!
Enjoy your twins, learn about another culture and share the beauty of your region.

;) Mme!

Let's bowl, let's bowl! Let's rock and roll!!!

What a fun morning! We started the day with disco bowling. For lunch we went to Fromagerie Lemaire, home of the first poutine!!! The SEVEC moose even made an appearance :)
To burn off all those poutines we went for a nice snowshoe walk along the Saint Francois river... Beautiful day in Quebec!

Family day #2- Sunday

This was the second family day for the students. We were starting to miss the kids a bit so we had brunch with two families then went to the QMJH hockey game. (Remparts vs Voltigeurs)

We the chaperones then had a nice dinner at a Thai restaurant :)

Family day #1

This was our first of two family days. Students went with their twin and did activities where hopefully they will learn a bit more about Drummondville or experience a new activity. The chaperones were also on our own for the day.
We decided to hop on the VIA train to Montreal! Pourquoi pas?!?
We walked to old Montreal, went through Chinatown, stopped into the Notre Dame Basilica. Then we came back up Rue Saint Catherine and stumbled into a cheese festival... Who doesn't love free samples of local cheeses?!?
We also walked through a street music festival called Montreal en lumières... Pretty cool :)
We came to Drummondville on the evening train... All in all, a great day!
I can hardly wait to hear what fun the kids had!!!

Battling for North America, Battling for bargains...

We begin our morning with breakfast in Quebec City. While some chose McDonnald or Tim's we went to Paillard for "pain au chocolat" coffee and French "macarons" why not taste a bit of French culture while we're here?!?
Following that we went to the plains of Abraham where we learned more about the battle that decided the fate of North America. (Wolfe/Montcalm)
After that we went to "les galléries de la capitale", a gigantic shopping mall with an amusement park AND a full sized hockey arena ;) students had fun shopping/playing.
We left Quebec a bit early because they were calling for bad weather... Thankfully our driver Bertrand is awesome!
